Don’s a CPA and has been for over 40 years. With an aptitude for technology and seeing its future role in business, he has provided CFO and related services on a fractional basis since 2005, when cloud computing was in its infancy.

Before that, Don was a partner with KPMG for 10 years, an IPO entrepreneur for 10 more, and CFO at RBC Global Private Banking for 5. Arguably, he has the most experience of any CPA currently providing fractional finance services. His focus is helping ambitious owners grow their businesses, regardless of size.

In addition to his strong technology and finance experience, as an entrepreneur himself, he has also personally experienced the challenges that his clients face and is able to use the wisdom he’s gained from this to enhance the value of his services.

In conjunction with the launch of Savvy CFO, of which he is a Co-Founder, Don is also kicking off a Podcast, aptly named “A CFO’s Diary – Pathways to Growth”, where he shares his 40+ years of experience and, through a unique “discovery call” format with those he’s worked with over the years, passes the wisdom he’s gained to listeners looking to grow their businesses.

Kieran Zakaria, one of the driving forces behind Savvy CFO, has a proven track record in catalyzing business growth. He brings a unique blend of financial acumen, tech-savviness, and a deep commitment to helping businesses succeed.

Early in his career, he helped Chefs Plate’s remarkable journey, as the organization had a phenomenal surge from $1 million to $50 million ARR in under four years. This crescendo culminated in a strategic acquisition by Hello Fresh, with a transaction exceeding $50 million—a testament to our ability to deliver tangible value in the competitive landscape.

As employee number two, he helped guide Mednow, Canada's leading digital pharmacy, through a triumphant $37 million IPO. In less than two years, Mednow transformed from pre-revenue to $50 million annualized revenue, propelled by a dynamic blend of organic growth and strategic acquisitions.

Community is at the heart of his mission. In response to the digital upheaval of the pandemic, he founded "Hackers for Change," a Canadian charity dedicated to fortifying the digital defenses of our nation's cherished charities, safeguarding them from cyber threats.

As a fervent tech enthusiast, he understands the pivotal role technology plays in shaping the future. This affinity allows him to harness innovation for tangible financial growth and resilience in an ever-evolving landscape.

Kieran also believes in the unyielding importance of lifelong learning. In a world of constant flux, this commitment to growth sets the foundation for sustained success in a globally dynamic environment.

In his personal life, his greatest passion is travel. Having explored 30 countries (and counting), he brings a unique perspective to his interactions, enriched by a deep understanding of diverse cultures.
